Honoring Legendary Legacies: Laura & Dollie Booten
This Black History Month, we celebrate two remarkable women whose lives embody resilience, love, and strength—supercentenarian Dollie Booten and her sister Laura. Born and raised in Reva, VA, these extraordinary sisters navigated life’s challenges with grace, determination, and an unbreakable bond.
Laura, a fearless protector and provider, sacrificed her own education to support her family. She faced Jim Crow’s reality head-on, yet never let it define her spirit.
Dollie, born in 1914, the year the Culpeper Chamber was founded, was a quiet force of strength, and found her path in New York City—excelling as a seamstress, fashion designer, and social worker—while never forgetting her Virginia roots. Dolly celebrated her 110th birthday in 2024!
Together, they witnessed nineteen presidents, six wars, television, internet, electricity, air travel, recessions, depressions, miracles in medicine, a man on the moon, and the Civil Rights Movement, proving that history isn’t just something we read about—it’s something they lived. Their legacies are woven into the fabric of our community, inspiring generations to come.
Read more about these incredible “Queens of Reva” in the Chambers 2025 Community Guide & Business Directory!
May we continue to honor and uplift the stories of Black excellence, resilience, and love— not just this month, but always.

Last night, Amy had the honor of attending Fauquier Health’s 100th Anniversary Celebration!
Since opening its doors on February 26, 1925, in the John Marshall Building on Waterloo Street, Fauquier Health has been a cornerstone of care in our region. In 1958, the hospital moved to its current location on “Hospital Hill,” continuing its legacy of compassionate healthcare.
The celebration brought together community partners, past and present board members, dedicated volunteers, staff, and physicians to reflect on a century of service. The evening was filled with heartfelt stories, inspiring speakers, and, of course, amazing food! Hearing the history and impact of Fauquier Health was truly moving, and it’s incredible to see how this institution has evolved while staying committed to the well-being of our community.
