While all of Culpeper is enjoying the snow, Amy is in Tuscon, Arizona on an incredible journey in her
second year at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce ‘s Institute of Organizational Management!
I attended the kickoff, homeroom, and my first full day of classes—and wow, what an experience
already! Today’s classes were packed with insights:
Is That Legal? with Andrew Dye, Attorney at Webster, Chamberlain & Bean LLP, diving into the legalities that impact organizational management.
Events: Strategy and Operations with Melissa Lagowski, CEO of Big Buzz Idea Group.
Building Better Boards and Committees, also with Melissa, which highlighted key ways to strengthen governance and teamwork for greater success.
It’s also been such a joy to reconnect with colleagues from across the country—sharing ideas, catching up, and finding inspiration in their incredible work. I’m feeling inspired and can’t wait to soak up more knowledge and bring it back to our community. Here’s to a fantastic week of learning, networking, and growth!

“Joining the Chamber of Commerce in 2023 was pivotal for the growth of Banks Graphic Design. Before I launched my company, I didn’t understand what the Chamber of Commerce was let alone why I would want to join. After joining a LeadShare and attending several Young Professionals lunches, the potential for networking and connecting with local businesses was easy to see. Since joining, my business has reaped all of the benefits. I’ve established valuable relationships with numerous businesses that not only require our services but also align with my values, allowing me to confidently refer clients to them.
As a small business owner, calculated risks are essential. I can confidently attest that investing in a Culpeper Chamber of Commerce membership yields substantial returns, making it a wise decision for any business looking to grow and thrive in the local community.”

Amy had the opportunity to represent the Culpeper Chamber at the Virginia Chamber Day at the Capitol last week, an annual gathering of Chamber professionals and business leaders in Richmond.
This event provides a crucial opportunity to learn about legislative priorities and advocate for Virginia’s thriving business environment.
The keynote speaker, Attorney General Jason Miyares, highlighted his strong support for local Chambers, applauding their dedication to ensuring economic success across the state.
Virginia Chamber of Commerce CEO Barry DuVal shared insights into the Chamber’s legislative agenda and provided updates on key bills that could impact Virginia businesses. He also introduced Blueprint 2035, an exciting vision to maintain Virginia’s position as the #1 state for business.
We’re proud to be part of such a dynamic network of leaders working to make Virginia an even better place to live, work, and thrive!

Excited to share the official class photos from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s Institute of Organizational Managment @iomeducates!
Class 2-2 is a powerhouse group of chamber and association leaders representing states across the nation: New Hampshire, Indiana, Alaska, Texas, Washington State, Washington D.C., Massachusetts, North Carolina, Washington, Wyoming, Colorado, Michigan, Florida, Illinois, Oklahoma, Idaho, Ohio, Arkansas—and me from Virginia! It was an absolute honor to spend a week with such inspiring leaders, learning and growing together.
The second photo is also very special—it’s of all the scholarship recipients, myself included! I’m incredibly grateful for the opportunity to attend Year 2 of this amazing program, supported by a scholarship. This scholarship made a significant difference for our Chamber, enabling us to invest in professional development while continuing to prioritize resources for our members and community initiatives.
This journey has been a game-changer, and I’m so thankful to the U.S. Chamber Foundation, IOM Board, Staff and Faculty, my classmates and everyone who made this possible. Here’s to continued growth, collaboration, and excellence!

This afternoon, we celebrated the grand opening of 𝐋𝟏𝟑𝟕 𝐒𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐬, 𝐋𝐋𝐂, an exciting new addition to Culpeper! This youth-focused training facility is dedicated to developing skilled, strong, and resilient athletes while fostering personal growth and preparing them for higher levels of competition.
During the event, we got a firsthand look at their three batting cages, a large mixed-use training space, and a parent viewing room, all designed to support young athletes on their journey.
Congratulations to L137 Sports on this exciting new chapter! We’re thrilled to have this incredible resource in our community.
