Nonprofit and Local Government Day Recap!
The LEAD Culpeper August session was packed with learning, exploration, and community engagement! Attendees started the day with insightful overviews of local government from Jim Hoy, Town of Culpeper Government and John Egertson, Culpeper County government followed by a fascinating presentation on the new GIS system and mapping by Autumn Fitch.
We toured the Culpeper County Library, participated in a panel discussion with local nonprofit leaders including Virginia Career Works – Piedmont Region, SAFE – Services to Abused Families, Inc and Living the Dream Foundation, and even took a mock citizenship test with the Culpeper Literacy Council—an eye-opening experience for all!
The excitement continued with an Amazing Race-style scavenger hunt, where we visited the The Culpeper Food Closet, Culpeper Human Services, and People Incorporated of Virginia. The day wrapped up with a glimpse into the impactful work being done at PlayDate: A Children’s Museum and Generations Central Adult Day Center.

Amy had the incredible opportunity to attend the Virginia Association of Chamber of Commerce Executives Leadership Conference last week! The event was packed with valuable insights and experiences, including updates and presentations from the Virginia Economic Development Partnership and the Virginia Chamber of Commerce and a deep dive leadership workshop focused on discovering the power of your leadership voice.
We also had the opportunity to participate in a fun and competitive game of Family Feud, based on Chamber survey results hosted by Growthzone/ChamberMaster!
The conference provided an incredible opportunity to connect with fellow Chamber professionals from across the state. From the roundtable discussions to the conversations during breaks and meals, we exchanged best practices, ideas, stories and so much more.
Thank you to Tiffany and the VACCE Board for all the hard work and dedication you put into coordinating the Leadership Conference. The educational and networking opportunities provided through this program are truly invaluable to us. Your efforts in bringing together such a diverse and insightful lineup of speakers, workshops, and experiences made a significant impact.
Thank you for your commitment to fostering growth and leadership within the Chamber community.
Photos of our excursion to the Bristol Motor Speedway and the Awards Dinner are coming soon!

Yesterday, we highlighted the AMAZING educational components of the Virginia Association of Chamber of Commerce Executives Leadership Conference. Now, I’m excited to share some of the unforgettable moments outside the conference room, including an engaging tour of the iconic Bristol Motor Speedway. We had the thrilling opportunity to do hot laps on the world’s fastest half-mile track, where NASCAR drivers average speeds of 125 mph, completing a lap in just 14 seconds.
I got to ride along with Andrea and Sarah from the Loudoun Chamber of Commerce and we went fast…but not that fast.
It was truly an unforgettable experience!
The Bristol Motor Speedway is also home to the Colossus, the world’s largest outdoor center-hung, four-sided video screen, weighing an impressive 7,500 tons. The Bristol letters on the Colossus are a massive 6 feet tall!
On race day, the speedway employs around 25,000 people and hosts between 85,000 to 100,000 visitors during race week.
We also explored the unique community of Bristol, which is in both Tennessee and Virginia. We even walked down to the famous sign and snapped a picture proving we could be in two states at once!
Another highlight of the VACCE Conference is the awards dinner, where we expressed our heartfelt thanks to Beth Reinhart, President & CEO of the Bristol Chamber of Commerce our outgoing chair, for her incredible leadership and for hosting this amazing conference. We also welcomed Regina Hilliard, President of the Luray-Page County Chamber of Commerce as the 2024-2025 VACCE Chair and celebrated Cynthia Schneider, CEO of the Top of Virginia Regional Chamber who was honored as the Chamber Executive of the Year!
